We offer opportunities for practical volunteering in the beautiful Kent Countryside. Every Thursday our dedicated team of volunteers undertake a huge variety of tasks, from hedge-laying to pond restoration, apple picking to school wildlife garden creation. In addition we have a large team of litter wardens and wildlife surveyors, so call us or email firstname.lastname@example.org
to find out more.
MVCP have been working hand in glove with Maidstone Borough Council for many years as they are one of our core sponsors. This relationship has been re-inforced by the formal adoption by the council of their own dedicated Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP).
Maidstone Borough Council's very own LBAP can be viewed right here. LBAP stands for Local Biodiversity Action Plan and is a crucial step in which MBC can not only manage its own sites in the most environmentally sensitive way, but encourage best practice across the borough.
This could include anything from new developments to roadside verge mowing, coppiced woodlands to school wildlife gardens. Furthermore, the LBAP seeks to engage, educate and inform the wider public into volunteering opportunities and how they can make a difference to helping wildlife in their own locality.
Maidstone has some valuable and beautiful oases of wildlife even close to the town centre, like the River Len Local Nature Reserve. Learn more about the site through its very own management plan.
We work in partnership with many like minded organistaions across our borough, like the Vinters Nature Reserve which is an important natural corridor right in the heart of Maidstone.
We have close ties too with other local reserves such as at Boxley Warren through the Kent Downs AONB, where our volunteers have helped the local team with chalk grassland restoration and the establishment of box trees.
